UFC 178 Will Have Chris Weidman On-Set As Guest Analyst

Chris Weidman

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman made a stop by the “UFC Tonight” studio recently to discuss his future and the rest of the 185-pound division.

Next month, Weidman will be a guest analyst on FOX Sports coverage of UFC 178 from Las Vegas, joining Rashad Evans and Brian Stann.

While that is something to do in his spare time, “The All-American” remains focused on Vitor Belfort. He’ll face Belfort this December at UFC 181.

“He has a lot of experience. He was a champion when he was 19. I went after him with the TRT thing. He’s been caught cheating twice. But I’m expecting the best Vitor ever,” he said. “He’ll be motivated to quiet all the doubters he has. He looks like he’s lost muscle. One of his weak points was his cardo, but it’ll be stronger now. I’m expecting a tough fight with Vitor.”

Coming off wins over Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida, Weidman still believes there are those out there who feel he doesn’t deserve his position in the pound-for-pound rankings. That doesn’t bother the unbeaten fighter.

“Any time you have doubters, it’s motivating. I fought Anderson Silva, the greatest of all time, and I knocked him out and there were doubters. Then him breaking his leg, there are still doubters,” Weidman said. “Then beating Lyoto (Machida), there are still doubters.”

Speaking of Machida, that’s who Weidman believes Luke Rockhold should square off again next. Most reports, though, indicated Rockhold and Michael Bisping will be paired.

“I think Lyoto Machida is a tougher fight than Michael Bisping. Bisping is coming off a tough fight from Tim Kennedy, and he beat up Cung Le, who’s been inactive,” he said. “He doesn’t deserve getting close to the title shot.”
