A pair of former Bellator fighters will meet inside the Octagon, as officials have signed Joe Riggs vs. Ben Saunders for UFC on FOX 13.
Set for December 13 from Phoenix’s U.S. Airways Center, the card will feature a main event between Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic. Other announced bouts include Alistair Overeem-Stefan Struve and Gabriel Gonzaga-Matt Mitrione.
Riggs (40-14) is an Arizona native and on a six-fight win streak that includes a victory over Mike Bronzoulis to become the first – and only to date – “Fight Master” champion while in Bellator. He signed with the UFC earlier this year, but was injured in an accidental self-shooting and forced out of the fight.
Previously, Riggs went 4-4 in a stint with the UFC that included a win over Nick Diaz and a submission loss to Matt Hughes. He also dropped bouts to Diego Sanchez and Mike Swick.
Saunders (17-6-2) is currently in his second run as a fighter with the UFC, having gone 4-3 previously. He returned in August after a loss to Douglas Lima in 2013 in the Season 8 Bellator welterweight tournament final by scoring a first round submission win over Chris Heatherly.
Overall, Saunders is 4-1 in his last five fights.
