UFC 179 Report: Davis, Jorgensen Given Lengthy Suspensions

ufc 179

The medical suspensions from this past Saturday’s UFC 179 card have been released by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission, and several fighters face 60-plus day suspensions.

That includes both Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes, as the UFC featherweight champion and his most recent contender were suspended 60 days. They cannot have contact for 45.

Phil Davis, who defeated Glover Teixeira in the co-main event, was one of two men given 180-day medical suspensions. “Mr. Wonderful” needs to get his right-hand checked out, while Scott Jorgensen was given the same suspension due to a possible rib injury.

Jorgensen posted a picture of his injury on Twitter after the fight:

Neil Magny, who has fought five times this year and was hoping to get a possible sixth bout in December, was suspended 30 days, with no contact for 21.
