Eddie Alvarez Sees The Good Out Of The Bad

Eddie Alvarez

Former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez believes he learned a lot from his Octagon debut, which was a loss this past September to Donald Cerrone.

While Alvarez isn’t willing to just accept defeat, he knows that good can come out of a bad situation.

“For me, it’s always good to lose every once in a while,” said Alvarez, during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. “I don’t really care about winning, as long as I don’t lose. It’s good to get that feeling again, to get that fire, to get excited again to get back in there and compete.

“It pissed me off a lot. I am going to have a lot going into this next one. A lot of motivation, a lot of fire.”

Alvarez (25-4) had his three-fight win streak snapped in the process by Cerrone. He hadn’t competed since late in 2013 when he won back the Bellator lightweight title with a split decision victory vs. Michael Chandler – who had been the last man to defeat him, with that “L” coming in 2011.

Over the span of the past four years, Alvarez has posted a 6-2 mark, including wins over Chandler, Patricky Freire, Shinya Aoki, Pat Curran, Roger Huerta and Josh Neer.
