UFC Fight Night 56 Results: Shogun Taking Time Before Making Next Decision

ufc fight night 56

From the sounds of it, former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will take some time following another loss to decide what is in his future.

Rua was finished by Ovince St. Preux Saturday night in Brazil at UFC Fight Night 56, falling to just 6-8 in his Octagon career.

“Losing is always bad,” Rua said. “When a punch lands, you feel it (in this weight class). I’m going to get through this loss and talk to my team, think about the future.”

Rua (22-10) has won just twice in seven fights since losing the title to Jon Jones. He didn’t make any excuses for the most recent defeat, crediting St. Preux for landing a “clean” punch.

“I made a mistake,” he added. “Defeats always suck.”

His immediate future will see Rua compete on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4 as a head coach opposite Anderson Silva. The two are not expected to fight following filming of the reality series.
