Bellator 131’s Ortiz, Bonnar Pass Drug Tests

Tito Ortiz

Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonnar were both tested by the California Athletic Commission, according to a report by MMAFighting.com.

Ortiz and Bonnar will meet Saturday night in the main event of Bellator 131 from San Diego. The main card airs on Spike TV, and FightLine will have complete coverage.

Andy Foster, executive director for the CAC, confirmed that both fighters were tested. Bonnar has passed two random urine tests, while Ortiz was given one. Previously, Bonnar has tested positive for banned substances twice in his career.

Earlier this year, Ortiz made his Bellator debut and submitted then-middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko. The win was his first since a 2011 submission vs. Ryan Bader.

Bonnar, a member of the UFC’s Hall of Fame like Ortiz, hasn’t competed since a 2012 loss to Anderson Silva. He failed the post-fight drug test after that contest, as Drostanolone was found in his system.
