Tito Ortiz “Killed It” During Bellator 131 PR Work

Tito Ortiz

Tito Ortiz put in the leg work to help make Bellator 131 a success last month, culminating with a decision victory over Stephan Bonnar in the main event.

Ortiz explained during a recent appearance on Submission Radio what all went into the promoting aspect of his fight, which took him around the world.

“I did a lot of work. I did a lot of PR. I did PR for the whole two months, every single radio (show) I possibly could across the United States, Canada and even in Australia. I did a lot of PR, I mean in Mexico. Across the world I did as much PR as I possibly could to promote this fight. I mean this is what I do best, is promote. I know how to do it, I’ve been doing for such a long time,” he said. “Bonnar did his part in selling the fight and talking about me, giving me some ammo to fire back on him. I mean we did ESPN, we did Sportsnet; pretty much from here, to Canada, to Mexico, we killed it. I mean I was on the phone all the time. I was travelling, I was doing the things being needed for the fight and it turned out the viewership on Spike.”

The event went head-to-head with the UFC, which put on a pay-per-view from Mexico that featured Fabricio Werdum winning the interim title over Mark Hunt. As a former UFC champion himself, Ortiz knows why the Bellator card was able to compete with the undisputed No. 1 MMA promotion on that night.
