Daniel Cormier Still Feeling Sore From Jon Jones Loss

The healing process continues for Daniel Cormier following his decision loss to Jon Jones, as the former Olympian appeared on a recent edition of “UFC Tonight.”

Cormier suffered his first MMA defeat at the hands of Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title. Since, the champion has admitted drug use and entered – and exited – rehab.

“Getting back to work helps,” said Cormier, a co-host of the program. “I see where I made mistakes and I still believe I can be the light heavyweight champion. My nose is a little jacked up and my ribs are pretty beat up.

“I didn’t realize how many times he kneed me. A lot of guys have championship hangover and get back into the gym a little too soon. I’m going to take my time.”

After a successful run at heavyweight that included victories over Josh Barnett, Frank Mir, Antonio Silva and Roy Nelson, Cormier dropped down to 205 pounds because his training partner – and close friend – is the current UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez.
