UFC 185: Alistair Overeem Tells Heavyweight Division “I’m Coming”

ufc 185

In his most complete performance since destroying Brock Lesnar back in 2011, Alistair Overeem picked up a decision over Roy Nelson Saturday night at UFC 185.

Overeem (39-14), a former Strikeforce champion, won his second straight and improved to 3-1 in his last four win victories over Nelson, Stefan Struve and Frank Mir. His Octagon mark now sits at 4-3 overall.

“Roy is a very dangerous opponent so I had to finish this fight a little more different,” he said. “He hits very hard and hits you out of balance. He’s well-rounded, so I had to be on my toes every second of every round.”

Despite not being able to finish Nelson, “The Reem” was never in trouble until the very end. Nelson landed a big shot that took him off his feet in the third, but time ran out.

“I was just a hit,” Overeem said of the knockdown. “I get hit like that in the gym, no problem.”

Overeem also stated that he wants to make a run at the title, letting interim champion Fabricio Werdum and champion Cain Velasquez know “I’m coming, bros.”
