UFC Fight Night 66: Mark Munoz Bids MMA Emotional Farewell

ufc fight night 66

The emotions were running wild for Mark Munoz Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 66.

Competing for the final time inside the Octagon, Munoz delighted the Manila crowd in scoring a dominating victory over Luke Barnatt.

“Thank you very much,” Munoz said. “I tried to be a role model to kids today. Thank you very much for the support and the trust in me.

“I love you so very much.”

Munoz (14-6) almost had the bout finished a number of times, but the Brit remained strong and continued on until the very end. Munoz had strung together a four-fight win streak before running into current UFC champion Chris Weidman.

The entire arena rose as one for Munoz, who helped the sport of MMA grow in the Philippines with his quick start to his career. The former Oklahoma State University wrestling standout snapped a three-fight losing skid and won for the ninth time in the UFC.

“I have a story to give to kids, to be able to teach and give my talents to the Philippines,” he said. “That’s my goal. I have so much to give to this sport. I have so much love for this sport and thank you to the best organization on the planet. Thank you UFC, thank you Dana White, thank you Lorenzo (Feritta).”
