Daniel Cormier and Kenny Florian offered up their thoughts on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 68 event during a recent episode of “UFC Tonight.”
The main event will see Dan Henderson take on Tim Boetsch in a middleweight affair. Both fighters are looking to right the ship, going a combined 3-7 over their last 10 fights.
Cormier, who previously bested Henderson when he was fighting at light heavyweight, knows the former Pride and Strikeforce champion is in for a war.
“It’s going to be tough. This is not an easy fight for Henderson, but I believe he can get the job done,” Cormier said. “He might be able to get the right hand off on him and Henderson can match Tim in the wrestling. Dan’s keys are to throw the right hand, he needs to use his boxing and he needs to use his wrestling and secure some takedowns. That will set up the big punches later.”
Florian sees leg kicks and the ability to match Henderson power-for-power as a reason that Boetsch has a chance.
“For Boetsch, has to move the head a lot and use kicks to keep Henderson on the outside,” Florian said. “He has knockout power in both hands. He’s an excellent athlete and doesn’t get enough credit for it. He needs to have forward pressure, use the jab, and to throw leg kicks to slow down Henderson and keep him on the outside.”
FightLine will have coverage of the action later this evening from New Orleans.
