UFC 188 Post: Henry Cejudo Nearly Pulled Out Of Fight

ufc 188

Former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo received his stiffest opponent to date, but still came out on top Saturday night at UFC 188.

Cejudo (9-0) earned his third Octagon win, and second at flyweight, be besting Chico Camus.

While his wrestling was defended, Cejudo used his effective striking to withstand the veteran. He also admitted that he almost pulled out of the contest due to a “bad taco” eaten earlier in the week.

“I was throwing up and it was a really hard cut because of the sickness,” he said. “I did my best. The only reason I fought was for these Mexican fans.”

Known in the U.S. as America’s “Golden Boy” for his performance in the Olympics, Cejudo stated he would like to be called the “Aztec Warrior” in Mexico. He entered the Octagon in complete garb, as both of his parents are from the country.

“I still have my eyes on the prize,” he said. “I gave you what I had. I’m disappointed in myself.”
