Stipe Miocic Explains Frustration Over Heavyweight Title Picture

stipe miocic

Stipe Miocic believes his resume speaks for itself.

The former NCAA Div. I wrestler has won 13 of his 15 pro fights, including 10 via finishes. That includes a May TKO over Mark Hunt, and wins vs. Fabio Maldonado, Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson around a decision loss to former champion Junior dos Santos.

Add all that up, and Miocic feels it is his time to challenge Fabricio Werdum for the title.

That’s also why he was so upset when rumors started circulating that Andrei Arlovski would be the first person to challenge Werdum for his recently-captured championship.

“I was kind of upset a little bit,” said Miocic, during an interview with Submission Radio. “I put my time in, I fought top-ranked guys the last couple fights. I built myself up to come up to that level and get my shot at the title, and it really upset me that a guy would just jump me like that.”

Miocic, admitted that he sent a message out to UFC president Dana White just asking “what was up” with the situation, but he has yet to hear anything back, adding “he’s a busy man, too.”
