BAMMA 22’s Tom DuQuesnoy Getting In Work In New Mexico

BAMMA featherweight champion Tom DuQuesnoy will return to the cage this September from Dublin against Brendan Loughnane at BAMMA 22.

Recently, DuQuesnoy sat down for an exclusive interview with the promotion, which you can read below:

BAMMA are the most important MMA organisation in Europe, according to current featherweight champion Tom Duquesnoy.

The Frenchman has just re-signed for BAMMA in a multi-fight deal after there were strong rumours he would be heading to America and the UFC.

However, the young champion decided to remain at BAMMA which is a huge coup for the promotion and will also benefit Duquesnoy in the long term.

Duquesnoy said: “I decided to re-sign with BAMMA for four fights since it answers my expectations. “My opponents will be more and more interesting and with a landmark, evolutionary contract it answers my needs inside and outside the cage.

“Opponents will flock from everywhere, everyone wants the belt and it forces me to be constantly evolving.

“In this sense, I will take on all challengers who challenge me in the cage and are useful from a media point of view.”

With Duquesnoy touted as the number global prospect, it should see BAMMA attract more and more global names to their shows.

First up is Brendan Loughnane. The Manchester fighter has a record equal to Duquesnoy’s (10-1) and has been making some waves of his own.

The 25-year-old has picked quite a following on Twitter who have been very vocal about him getting in the cage with Duquesnoy. Their wish has been granted and the two headline BAMMA 22 in Dublin in September.

In preparation, Duquesnoy has relocated to Albuquerque for two months to train with Jackson-Winkeljohn, who have previously trained the likes of Georges St-Pierre, Rashad Evans and Jon Jones. He will then return to Paris to complete his pre-fight training.

“I think Brendan has experience and he will come in top shape to take the belt in September.

“I am already ready and I will continue training to achieve a higher level for this fight, said Duquesnoy.

“I am eager to discover Ireland and the Dublin public,” he added. “As in England, they have fighting spirit and respect for the fighters.”

BAMMA 22 takes place on September 13 at the 3Arena in Dublin. Tickets are on sale through the BAMMA website.
