UFC Fight Night 72: Joseph Duffy Does It Again

ufc fight night 72

Joseph Duffy doesn’t like to stay in the cage for too long.

Yet, Duffy says it is his home.

Saturday at UFC Fight Night 72, the Irish fighter scored a first round submission over Ivan Jorge, locking up a triangle choke on the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt. In his Octagon debut, Duffy knocked out Jake Lindsey.

“This is my life,” he said. “This is what I love doing. I feel no reason to be nervous.

“This is the place I want to be everyday.”

Duffy owns submission wins over interim UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and Norman Parke. He remains the last man to best “Notorious,” as he locked up an arm-triangle choke in just 38 seconds five years ago.

“I am confident in my game,” Duffy said. “I am training with some of the best guys in the world week in and week out. No matter where it goes, I am comfortable.”

After picking up his 12th first round finish among his 14 career wins, Duffy said there isn’t anyone on his radar, but he does have a future card in mind.

“I would love to be on that Dublin card,” he said. “If it is a good fight, I would love to be there.”
