Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva ended a two-fight losing skid with a dominant performance vs. Soa Palelei Saturday night at UFC 190.
Silva had dropped back-to-back fights to Frank Mir and Andrei Arlovski – two former UFC champions – in his native home of Brazil.
“I had a bad streak of two losses and needed to reward the crowd with a good win,” he said. “I am back with everything I’ve got.”
The Brazilian stated that he watched a replay of his win over Alistair Overeem prior to coming out to fight, and the bout vs. Palelei went much the same. “The Hulk” controlled the first, but he let Silva connect with a huge uppercut right off the bat in the second round.
“I did the same thing,” he said. “I knew this was going to happen.”
Palelei (22-5), who turned 38 years old last month, fell to 1-2 in his last three.
