Bellator: Josh Thomson Earns First Win In Two Years

Josh Thomson

Josh Thomson has fought for the UFC, Strikeforce and Pride.

Saturday night, he added Bellator to his resume and a submission victory over Mike Bronzoulis in a main card fight on Spike TV at Bellator: Dynamite 1.

After leaving the UFC following three consecutive defeats, Thomson jumped at the opportunity to both compete for Bellator and in his hometown of San Jose.

“I had the jitters,” Thomson said. “I wanted to perform for you guys. This might be the last time you see me in this arena. Thank you for the support.”

Thomson (21-8) scored his first win since a 2013 TKO over Nate Diaz that vaulted him into title contention with the UFC. However, when then-champion Anthony Pettis was forced to the sidelines, Thomson accepted a match with Benson Henderson.

He lost via split decision to Henderson and a few months later to Bobby Green before dropping a July decision to Tony Ferguson.

“It feels amazing,” he said. “Thank you Scott Coker for making this happen.

“Every time I get out here, I want to perform for you guys.”
