UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has signed a new contract with the promotion.
The former Olympian confirmed on MMAjunkie Radio recently that he agreed to terms on an eight-fight contract even though he still had four fights left on his current deal.
“They were very fair to me,” Cormier said. “I just had to be myself and be honest.”
Cormier (17-1) admitted that at 36 years old “I don’t event know if I can get through eight fights” to complete the contract. “DC” competed three times in 2015, falling to Jon Jones, winning the vacant title vs. Anthony Johnson and defending vs. Alexander Gustafsson.
Up next for Cormier is expected to be a meeting with Jones in 2016, adding the UFC said “they were going to let me get through the holidays and see how I felt at the end of the year.”
