Holly Holm will not have to wait on the sidelines to defend her UFC female bantamweight title.
Following’s Holm’s November victory over Ronda Rousey, officials mentioned the likelihood of a rematch taking place in 2016. However, with Rousey’s schedule filling up with movie roles, that would have left Holm waiting.
UFC president Dana White stated on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday that Holm (10-0) will indeed defend her title against another contender before she faces Rousey.
“Holly Holm will fight before she fights Ronda,” White said.
The likely candidate is Miesha Tate, as the former Strikeforce champion is 17-5 overall and 4-2 inside the Octagon.
