The UFC was running short on time, so they had to cut the entrances for Ilir Latifi and Sean O’Connell from the Fight Pass prelims on UFC Fight Night 81.
Latifi more than made up for it, though, as he knocked Sean O’Connell out in just 30 seconds for his second straight win and fourth overall inside the Octagon.
The Swede, who improved to 11-4 in his career, landed with a perfectly-placed right hand before following up with a second. O’Connell was wobbled from the first shot.
“The fighters’ security and health is the most important part,” Latifi said. “So the stoppage was good. No injuries, no concussions.”
For Latifi, it was his eighth finish and second straight via first round KO, as he also stopped Hans Stringer last July. All four of his UFC wins have been stoppages.
“I always go for the finish,” he said. “I saw he was rocked and I just kept on pushing. Sometimes, fighters come back very fast so you have to be on them immediately.”
