For the fifth time in his last six fights, Jake Ellenberger was handed a loss.
Saturday night at UFC on FOX 18, former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine used his leg kicks to pick Ellenberger apart, earning a decision in the prelim main event from New Jersey.
After getting knocked out by Stephen Thompson last July, Ellenberger (30-11) was left unsure of himself after the recent setback.
“I don’t even know right now,” he said. “I can’t, I’m just disappointed.”
Back in 2013, Ellenberger was coming off a knockout of Nate Marquardt and appeared ready to compete. He had won seven of eight, including victories over Jake Shields and Diego Sanchez.
Since, though, Ellenberger has been bested by some of the elite in the division, including champion Robbie Lawler, contender Rory MacDonald and Kelvin Gastelum.
