UFC On FOX 18: Alex Caceres Rises Up

ufc on fox 18

It’s been over two years since Alex Caceres had his hand raised inside the Octagon.

The 28-year-old ended that drought Saturday night at UFC on FOX 18, scoring a decision victory vs. Masio Fullen. He was coming off losses to Francisco Rivera, Masanori Kanehara and Urijah Faber since submitting Sergio Pettis back in 2014.

“It’s been a long time coming,” he said. “The whole time out there I’m worried about them taking me down. It was a great matchup with Fullen. I knew we were going to have high flying action.”

Caceres (11-8) had put together a five-fight unbeaten streak between 2012-13, including a submission vs. Damacio Page and a split decision vs. Roland Delorme.

However, after stepping up to the “big-leagues” with a bout vs. Urijah Faber, “Bruce Leeroy” knew he had to out-point Fullen.

“Having fun is what’s next for me. As much as you can,” he said. “For all we know every fight could be our last fight. It doesn’t matter who comes next. I want whoever is put in front of me. I just want to have fun.”

Fullen (10-6) suffered his second straight loss, as he was also suffered a submission loss last June to Makwan Amirkhani.

“I have to keep working hard,” Fullen said. “Alex is a very tough guy and I knew from the beginning that I had a very tough challenge. All I can do is keep working and keep looking for chances to compete here in the UFC.”
