Tim Kennedy Set For Deployment With U.S. Army

Tim Kennedy

Tim Kennedy was one of the first fighters to comment when word started being reported that Yoel Romero failed a drug test.

Kennedy’s last fight was a controversial defeat at the hands of Romero back in 2014.

“No, no, no, not surprised at all,” he said, during a recent appearance on Submission Radio. “The first thought that came, the first thought – I pissed myself laughing cause it was, like karma’s a (expletive) and I don’t think karma’s done with that guy. You know, hypocrisy only runs so deep, and it’s pretty deep with that particular athlete. And so like, I just laughed and laughed for a while, and then I was like, OK, now I must troll him. So got online and just started trolling living crap out of him.”

With the extended hiatus still intact, Kennedy admitted that the UFC did try and put him together with Lyoto Machida. A deployment through the U.S. government, though, forced the Army Rangers hand.

“I was in Las Vegas last week for work and I was trying to link up with Joe (Silva) for a lunch,” he said. “Unfortunately, he was at a fight so I missed him, but it is not a question about who I want to fight or when I want to fight. They offered me Lyoto Machida at the end of March, but I’m going to be deployed for the military and it’s for the US Army, and they’re really hard to say ‘no’ to.

“Like, by hard, I mean they’ll put me in prison if I say ‘no’. Yeah. So I couldn’t fight at the end of March, I asked for a different date. Lyoto would be a fun fight; Anderson (Silva) would be a really easy fight.”
