WSOF: John Howard, German Prospect Signed

UFC veteran John Howard has found a new home, signing with the World Series of Fighting.

WSOF president Ray Sefo confirmed the news in his latest “Executive Action” blog along with the addition of Abu Azaitar and re-signing Bryce Mitchell.

Howard (23-12) was let go by the UFC following a 2015 loss to Tim Means. He lost three straight after wins over Uriah Hall and Siyar Bahadurzada, prompting the release.

“John has had a few tough losses in recent years, but I believe he still has a lot to offer the sport,” Sefo wrote, “and I look forward to him debuting for us later this year.”

Azaitar is 11-1-1 in his career and a native of Germany, while Mitchell sports a 5-0 record.

“Abu has been fighting in Europe, primarily as a middleweight, but I think he’ll also end up competing in our welterweight division,” Sefo said. “I think ‘Thug Nasty’ (Mitchell) has a bright career in front of him, and I’m happy to announce it will continue to develop in the World Series of Fighting decagon.”
