Years ago, Gegard Mousasi and Anderson Silva were atop the middleweight world, as each wore championship gold.
Now, the two are on a different path, but they might still cross.
Mousasi’s manager, Nima Sapafour, recently told MMAjunkie.com that her client would like to face Silva, but not at the upcoming Brazilian soccer stadium show.
“It is an exciting idea, as it will be a stadium show. However, the Curitiba card is right around the corner. Therefore, we need adequate time to put the camp together and prepare,” she said. “We would gladly fight Anderson. However, a May date is too soon of a return. Had we known immediately after the London card, they maybe.
“But that time has passed us, unfortunately.”
Mousasi (38-6-2) is coming off a victory over Thales Leites, his third in the last four fights. That same weekend in London, Silva (33-7) lost to Michael Bisping via decision.
