UFC 200: Officials Announce Cormier-Jones

ufc 200

As long as everything goes as planned over the next week or so, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will get their rematch.

And they will do so at UFC 200 on July 9.

Officials announced the rumored main event for the Las Vegas card during a special appearance on “Good Morning America” Wednesday morning. Jones and Cormier will meet to unify the light heavyweight titles after “Bones” earned the interim belt this past weekend.

Jones and Cormier were joined by UFC president Dana White, UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell, Frankie Edgar, UFC female bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and Paige VanZant on the set of the ABC morning show.

Jones bested Cormier last year to retain his title, but was stripped after a legal run-in. Cormier won the vacant belt with a submission win over Anthony Johnson and defended it vs. top challenger Alexander Gustafsson to close out 2015.

The two were set for UFC 197 before an injury knocked Cormier out. He was replaced by Ovince Saint Preux, who lost a decision to Jones.
