Dustin Poirier improved to 4-0 since his decision to return to lightweight, finishing off Bobby Green Saturday night at UFC 199.
Poirier (20-4) now has eight finishes since 2011, which marks the second-most in the UFC and behind only Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and his 10.
“I am so happy,” Poirier said. “I said I was going to come in and get a knockout (and I did).”
After losing to Conor McGregor in 2014, “The Diamond” decided to return to 155 pounds. He’s finished Carlos Diego Ferreira, Yancy Medeiros and now Green, along with a decision win over Joseph Duffy earlier this year.
“I was in the Top-10 before someone unranked me,” he said. “I want in the Top-10 and I want big fights. I grew up in this Octagon and the WEC.
“This is my life. I want to fight.”
Green was fighting for the first time since 2014 due to a torn ACL and a meniscus injury.
