UFC 200: Prelim Play-By-Play And Results

The wait is over; one of the UFC’s biggest events ever, if not the biggest, has arrived. Yes, UFC 200 is underway at the T-Mobile Arena, so let’s get to the preliminary card action.

This should be fantastic…

Takanori Gomi vs. Jim Miller

Round 1: Gomi misses with a big right hook. Miller plants a left. Gomi throws a leg kick but Miller catches it and they head to the floor. Miller moves to Gomi’s back. Miller has a body lock and is looking for the rear-naked-choke. Wow. Miller flattens out Gomi and starts chucking down punches. That’s it. Big win for Miller.

Gegard Mousasi vs. Thiago Santos

Round 1: Both men are cautious to begin the bout. Mousasi flurries in but takes a left from Santos. Mousasi sticks a nice jab. Santos with a couple of leg kicks. Mousasi comes in and lands some big punches. Middleweight drags Santos to the floor and is looking to take his back. Santos gets back up but Mousasi scores a nice trip. Latter is in sidemount. Mousasi tries to move into full mount but Santos defends. Wow. As Santos was popping back to his feet, Mousasi blasted him with huge right and left. That’s that. Another first round stoppage. Nice win for Mousasi.

Joe Lauzon vs. Diego Sanchez

Round 1: Lauzon chucks a left hook to kick things off. Sanchez digs in a nice uppercut. Hard leg kick from Sanchez. Lauzon cracks Sanchez with a huge uppercut and the latter goes down momentarily. This is nuts. Lauzon is just pounding in shots and somehow Sanchez is staying up. He could be out on his feet. Lauzon fires in some more punches and the ref stops the bout. Fantastic win for Lauzon. Another first round stoppage!

Enrique Marin vs. Sage Northcutt

Round 1: Marin lands a nice jab. Northcutt grazes Marin with a headkick. Marin with a 1 – 2. Another high kick from Northcutt. Latter comes with a flying knee but it doesn’t land. Marin pushes Northcutt to the cage. Marin scores a single leg TD. Northcutt looks for a heel hook and takes top position. Northcutt takes back of Marin. Now Northcutt is working a choke from above. Marin defends and gets back to his feet. Northcutt fires in some knees from the clinch and looks for the TD. Marin defends and tries to take back of Northcutt but winds up on the floor again. Now Northcutt is trying to take back of Marin. Latter reverses. Round ends.

Round 2: Northcutt plants a jab. 1 – 2 from Northcutt. Marin tags Northcutt with a counter left. Northcutt changes levels but winds up on the bottom, after a scramble. They’re working from north-south and the crowd reacts. Marin spins for an armbar but Northcutt is defending. Now Marin is cranking the arm but Northcutt doesn’t tap and gets out. Unbelievable. Northcutt is on top working from within guard. Latter lands a hammer fist. Wow. Marin reverses as Northcutt postured up. Nicely done. Marin is working a kimura. Now Marin tries rolling into an armbar but he loses it. Northcutt with an elbow. Round ends.

Round 3: Northcutt plants right hand. Marin fires back with a left. They clinch up and Marin pushes Northcutt to the cage. Marin scores a double leg. Northcutt is trying to get back up and does. Marin is looking for another TD. Northcutt cracks down some elbows. Marin tries bringing Northcutt down but he winds up on the bottom. Northcutt is looking for a choke but Marin pops back to his feet. Looks like Marin is cut. Marins gets another TD but needs to do something with it. Wow. Northcutt rolls right after he got to his feet and takes the top position. Northcutt lands a few punches. Final horn goes.

Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw

Round 1: Huge fight at 135. Assuncao whiffs on a right hand. Dillashaw lands a leg kick. Latter misses with a right but sticks a jab. Assuncao fires a leg kick and Dillashaw returns the favor. TJ plants a right. Hard leg kick from Assuncao. Dillashaw comes with a couple of big punches. Dillashaw is switching stances constantly. Another leg kick from TJ. Latter fires in another hard leg kick. TJ goes high with a kick that grazes Assuncao. Latter plants a right. Now TJ looks for a takedown but Assuncao defends. They clinch up briefly. Assuncao threatens with a sidekick. Dillashaw fires in a big right. Round ends.

Round 2: Dillashaw sticks a right hand to start the round. TJ shoots in but Assuncao defends with a whizzer. TJ counters Assuncao with a hard right. Wow. TJ cracks Assuncao with another right hand. Latter is bleeding from the nose. Assuncao spins with a high kick that misses. Dillashaw is really starting to move ahead here. Assuncao wings in a hard right. Dillashaw flurries in. TJ goes high with a kick but it’s blocked. Assuncao scores a beautifully timed TD but Dillashaw pops right back up. Ref stops the bout to have Assuncao’s nose looked at by doc. Fight resumes. Assuncao attempts a kick but slips. He’s back to his feet. Assuncao charges in but doesn’t land anything. Round ends.

Round 3: Dillashaw comes with another leg kick. Hard body kick from Assuncao. Latter fires in a leg kick. Dillashaw plants a bug left. TJ shoots in but Assuncao defends. Action slows. Dillashaw lands a kick to the body. Assuncao is waving TJ in. Both men wing big punches but nothing lands. Assuncao shoots in but can’t get it. Assuncao plants a right hand. Nice TD by Dillashaw. Assuncao quickly gets back to his feet. Horn goes.

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Johny Hendricks

Round 1: Gastelum staying busy with the jab. Hendricks wings a big left. Gastelum tags Hendricks with a left. Latter lands a leg kick, and another. More kicks from Gastelum. Another left from Gastelum lands. Hendricks charges in and plants a left. Hard leg kick from Gastelum. Hendricks just misses with an uppercut. Gastelum sticks another jab. Wow. Gastelum with three more lefts. Hendricks is getting cracked with shots. Former champ pushes Gastelum to the fence. Latter breaks free. Hendricks scores with an uppercut but takes a left. Gastelum flurries in but Hendricks fires back. Round ends.

Round 2: Gastelum continues to stay busy with punches. Hendricks feints level change. Leg kick from Hendricks. Gastelum kicks Hendricks to the body and latter charges in, is looking for TD. Gastelum goes to the mat momentarily. More jabs from Gastelum. Hendricks pushes him to the cage briefly. Latter lands a left. Gastelum with another hard leg kick. Hendricks plants a left. Spinning kick to the body from Gastelum. Hendricks flurries in and pushes Gastelum to the fence. Again, Gastelum breaks free. Now Gastelum has Hendricks against the cage and fires in some big punches. Wow. Both guys are chucking big shots. Round ends.

Round 3: Gastelum cracks Hendricks with another left. Gastelum is staying busy with the jab. Hendricks counters with a right. Gastelum plants a leg kick. Hendricks flurries in and clinches up. Nice body shot from Hendricks. Both guys wing big lefts. Gastelum lands another left. And another left from Gastelum lands hard. Body kick from Hendricks. Gastelum just misses with an overhand left. Now Hendricks charges in and is looking for the TD. He gets it but Gastelum pops back up. Huge elbows from Gastelum in the clinch. Hendricks is looking for the TD again but Gastelum defends. Now Gastelum is searching for the takedowon. They’re just slinging punches to close out the fight. Wow. Great action.

Julianna Pena vs. Cat Zingano

Round 1: Zingano flurries hard and pushes Pena to the cage. Zingano sweeps Pena to the floor. Latter gets back to her feet. Pena tries for a trip but winds up on the bottom. Pena works her way up and out again and this time, takes Zingano down. Pena is looking for a guillotine but can’t get it. Zingano is on top. Pena is staying busy with palm strikes to the ear. Zingano lands a punch from above. Zingano just misses with an elbow. Latter plants a punch after posturing up. Elbow from Zingano. Pena rolls for an armbar but can’t get it. Now Pena scrambles to her feet. Latter lands right. Round ends.

Round 2: They trade strikes and Zingano scores the TD. Zingano lets Pena up. Wow. Zingano just tosses Pena to the floor. Zingano is looking for the crucifix but gives up the position. Zingano is working a D’arce from the bottom but Pena gets free. Latter looks for a neck crank but gives it up. Pena takes the back of Zingano. Pena tries for the RNC but can’t get it. Round ends.

Round 3: Zingano charges in but Pena counters with a TD. Very nice. Pena lands an elbow from the top. Pena is trying to pass. Elbow from the latter. More elbows. Zingano needs to do something fast. Pena moves to Zingano’s back. Now Pena is hunting for the RNC but Zingano pulls out. Finally, Zingano reverses positions but it’s likely too late. Final horn goes.
