Before she turned pro, Karolina Kowalkiewicz suffered a loss to current UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Now, after earning a split decision at UFC 201 over Rose Namajunas, Kowalkiewicz is one step closer to getting her shot at revenge on the big stage.
Kowalkiewicz controlled the latter stages of the three-round co-main event, earning her 10th career win in 10 fights. She is now 3-0 with the UFC, with all three victories coming via decision.
“She said I am not on her level, but I am ready,” Kowalkiewicz said. “I know her. I respect her very much, but I want to fight the best and I will beat the best.”
Namajunas (5-3) had her three-fight win streak snapped with the loss. She had not been bested since a defeat to Carla Esparza in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter.
