UFC 202: Lorenz Larkin Batters, Bruises, Neil Magny

ufc 202

Just a few short months ago, Lorenz Larkin was fighting just to remain in the UFC.

Now, with wins in four of his last five fights, Larkin is on the way up after adding Neil Magny to his resume at UFC 202 Saturday night.

“A couple of fights ago, everybody knows my back was against the wall,” Larkin said. “I was trying to fight just to stay in the UFC. Now, I am starting to prove myself and look what happened.”

Larkin (18-5), who holds a win over former UFC champion Robbie Lawler, has now finished Magny, Santiago Ponzinibbio and John Howard since a three-fight losing streak in 2014. He also earned a split decision over Jorge Masvidal around a split decision loss to Albert Tumenov in January.

Using his kicking, Larkin was dominant against Magny. He chewed up his left leg and even did damage to his own, opening a cut on his shin that will likely require stitches. That’s about the only thing that went wrong for Larkin, who told the referee it is one of his biggest fears.
