UFC 203’s Alistair Overeem Wants A Finish

ufc 203

If you are expecting a five-round, 25-minute battle to conclude UFC 203 Saturday night, Alistair Overeem has some bad news for you.

Overeem, a former Strikeforce and DREAM heavyweight champion, meets Stipe Miocic for the UFC title from Cleveland.

And he’s expecting an early night.

“I am the most hungry fighter of the heavyweight division,” said Overeem earlier this week following open workouts. “I predicted a second- or third-round knockout. It depends on him a little bit, too, because it takes two to tango.

“Judging his nature, it’s not going to take that long – but you never know. There’s an X-factor involved. He can go away, he can evade, he can become a different Stipe all of a sudden. But otherwise, I don’t see it lasting two or three rounds.”

Overeem owns 18 knockout wins to his credit, including his two most recent victories over former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski and Junior dos Santos. Miocic, meanwhile, floored Fabricio Werdum earlier this year to win the belt and has finished 11 of his foes by knockout or TKO.
