Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was involved in two battles Saturday night at UFC 203.
First, Werdum scored a victory over Travis Browne to improve to 2-0 against him and get back in the win column after a loss to Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title earlier this year.
But before the announcement could be made of Werdum as the winner, Browne’s head coach came after him.
“His coach was saying bad things. I don’t say bad things,” he said during the post-fight show on FS1. “I’m an announcer for the UFC on Spanish TV. I kicked his belly to push him back from me. He tried to punch me. He’s a boxing coach.”
Regardless of what happened, Werdum won and he wants a rematch with Miocic, who defended his title on the same night opposite Alistair Overeem.
“I want to fight Miocic,” he said. “I’m No. 1 ranked (contender).”
