Conor McGregor Lives Up To The Hype

ufc 205

He did it.

Conor McGregor said he came to the UFC to make history, and at UFC 205 Saturday night, that is exactly what he did.

McGregor finished Eddie Alvarez in the second round of their historic main event between champions, leaving Madison Square Garden with both the UFC lightweight and featherweight titles around his waist.

About the only thing that upset “Notorious” was that the UFC didn’t have both belts ready to go for him after the fight ended.

“Where’s my (expletive) other belt?” McGregor screamed.

Once he was given the second title, he exhaled, saying, “That feels good. That looks good.”

McGregor won the unified featherweight title when he knocked out Jose Aldo last year in a matter of seconds. After moving up to welterweight and going 1-1 vs. Nate Diaz, the Irish fighter dropped down to 155 pounds and challenged Alvarez. Earlier this year, Alvarez won the title over Rafael dos Anjos and is also a former Bellator MMA champion.

“Not one bit,” said McGregor, when asked if anything surprised him about the fight. “You gotta have some attributes. You gotta have size. Eddie is a solid competitor, but he shouldn’t have been in here with me.”

And while it was rumored he would make an announcement following the fight, McGregor instead took the time to say something else.

“I was starting fights backstage,” he said. “I’ve ridiculed everyone. From the bottom of my heart….

“I’d like to apologize to nobody.”
