Michael Chandler Calls Out Josh Thomson

Michael Chandler knows it can’t always be a flawless victory inside the cage.

The reigning Bellator lightweight champion had his hand raised Saturday night at Bellator 165 over former UFC lightweight titleholder Benson Henderson.

The win improved Chandler to 16-3 overall, adding to his previous wins over the likes of Eddie Alvarez and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire.

“Benson’s a heck of a competitor,” Chandler said (thanks to MMAFighting.com for the quotes). “You can’t be perfect in here, you’ve just got to find a way to win. That’s what I did.”

As for who might be next, Chandler wants another former promotional champion in Josh Thomson.

“San Jose, if your boy Josh Thomson steps back into this cage and does not stand across the cage from me, he is an absolute coward,” Chandler said to the San Jose crowd. “I’d love to run it back with Benson Henderson, put the paint on him next time. Tonight, even though I won, it wasn’t my night. I will be back, believe it.”
