The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale: Complete Results

the ultimate fighter 24 finale

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson once again made history, securing his ninth consecutive title defense with a hard-fought decision win over Tim Elliott Saturday night in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale.

“Mighty Mouse” had been making a career out of ending the night of his top challengers quickly, but Elliott was a game contender. The recent Ultimate Fighter 24 winner nearly locked up several submission attempts, but Johnson was able to fend them off.

With the win, Johnson is now second on the all-time list of successful title defenses in a row, trailing Anderson Silva by one.

TUF 24 coaches Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo battled for 15 minutes in the co-main event, with Benavidez pulling out a split decision. The scorecards were interesting to say the least, as one judge ruled the fight for Cejudo, 29-27, while another had it 30-26 for Benavidez and a second 29-27. Cejudo was docked a point for an illegal low blow in the first round.

Jorge Masvidal had one of the more interesting wins of his career, as an injury suffered by Jake Ellenberger after his foot got stuck in the cage ended their welterweight bout in the first round. Jared Cannonier downed Ion Cutelaba in a back-and-forth light heavyweight affair.

In a meeting of former female bantamweight title contenders, it was Sara McMann submitting Alexis Davis with an arm-triangle choke in the second round. Brandon Moreno scored a split decision over Ryan Benoit to kickoff the main card on FOX Sports 1.

Rob Font had the lone finish on the FS1 prelims, stopping late-replacement Matt Schnell with a knee and strikes inside of four minutes of the first round. Ryan Hall picked up a decision over former title contender Gray Maynard in the featured bout, while “Maestro” Dong Hyun Kim downed Brendan O’Reilly and Jamie Moyle topped Kailin Curran.

On the early UFC Fight Pass prelims, Anthony Smith finished Elvis Mutapcic and Devin Clark scored a decision over Josh Stansbury.
