Urijah Faber made his final appearance inside the Octagon Saturday night and it was a vintage performance by “The California Kid.”
Faber dominated Brad Pickett from start to finish, earning his 10th win in the UFC’s bantamweight division. The bout took place in his hometown of Sacramento from the Golden 1 Center.
“This life experience has been amazing,” Faber said. “Sacramento, I love you. California, I thank you so much.
“Thank you to Pickett, to the UFC – thank you for everything.”
Faber, a former WEC champion who competed a handful of times for UFC gold, did his best to keep his emotions in-check. He received a main event-style entrance, complete with the lights down and his customary song being played as the crowd went crazy.
“It’s such a surreal experience,” he said. “I love doing this. There is nothing like it in the world, but I am ready to move forward.
“I feel like I got my PhD in real life.”
