Dana White With A Big No To Amanda Nunes

UFC president Dana White shot down Amanda Nunes’ request to compete at featherweight.

The reigning UFC female bantamweight champion let it be known after defeating Ronda Rousey in December that she wanted the winner of UFC 208’s main event between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie. That bout will crown the first-ever 145-pound female champion in the UFC.

White, though, told reporters over the weekend that there are no current plans to move Nunes to that division just yet.

“We’ve got to start pumping the brakes around here,” White said. “She wins a few in a row and wants to (move up). We’ll see what happens.”

Nunes instead could be looking at a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko after confronting her at UFC on FOX 23. Shevchenko, who lost a decision to Nunes, defeated Julianna Pena via submission.
