Bellator 176 Results: Carvalho Dominates

bellator 176

Rafael Carvalho earned his second win over Melvin Manhoef, but this one should leave the Bellator middleweight champion feeling much better.

After earning a split decision last year vs. Manhoef, Carvalho went to Italy and knocked him out Saturday in the main event of Bellator 176.

Carvalho, who has won each of his last 14 pro fights since losing in his debut, landed a head-kick in the fourth round. The bout aired live on Spike from the Pala Alpitour.

“The last fight didn’t go as I expected or like the public expected,” Carvalho said. “This fight I knew that there needed to be an undisputed winner with a finish and I’m very glad that I was the one who came away with the victory.

“I’m going to continue to defend my middleweight title here at Bellator, but I’m also interested in a super fight in our light heavyweight division or maybe a bout in Bellator Kickboxing. That would be fun for me.”

Anastasia Yankova, Valeriu Mircea and Mihail Nica all added wins on the card.

Rafael Carvalho def. Melvin Manhoef via KO (head-kick) at 3:15 of Round 4 to remain Bellator middleweight champion

Anastasia Yankova def. Elina Kallionidou via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Valeriu Mircea def. Djamil Chan via majority decision (28-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Mikhail Nica def. Samba Coulibaly via submission (Anaconda choke) at :36 of Round 1
