K-1 World GP 2009 Final Post-Fight Interviews & Dynamite!! 2009 Notes

More K-1 World GP 2009 Final post-fight interviews on the official K-1 YouTube channel.

A few interesting post-fight notes regarding Dynamite!! 2009 via Nightmare of Battle.

FEG President Tanigawa declared today that he wants Alistair or Semmy to take Fedor out.

Candidates from the finals event for Dynamite!! are Alistair, Semmy (will fight under MMA rules if he fights, possibly against an SRC fighter), and Hari (depending on their condition). Alistair wants Hari in an MMA fight.

11 or 12 additional fights will be announced for Dynamite!! and Tanigawa wants 7 of those to be DREAM vs. SENGOKU/SRC fights. He also wants around 3 K-1 vs. DREAM/SENGOKU fights (like last years Mousasi/Musashi, Kawajiri/Kozo, and Alistair/Hari fights).

Announcements are expected later this week.

Overeem vs Hari Confirmed For Dynamite; Silva vs Leites Likely For UFC 97

Badr HariJust a week out from Japan’s big NYE event, Fields Dynamite!! 2008, it looks like Alistair Overeem finally has an opponent. He will be fighting none other than K-1 heavyweight king Badr Hari under K-1 rules. Very tough fight for Overeem, I know, however, in the interest of fairness, the two have also agreed to meet again in early 2009 in a MMA rules match.

Cro Cop Announces NYE Fight Against Hong Man Choi

Cro Cop vs Hong Man ChoiIt appears the rumors were true. Cro Cop announced earlier today on his official blog that he has signed a contract to fight Korean giant Hong Man Choi at Fields Dynamite!! 2008 on NYE.

Cro Cop To Face Badr Hari On NYE At Dynamite!! 2008?

Badr HariWe’re only a few weeks away from FEG’s Dynamite!! 2008 card, yet in typical Japan fashion, we only know a few of the match-ups. Ever since DREAM.6 concluded, it was widely speculated and almost expected that Cro Cop and Alistair Overeem would meet again to finally settle their score. Much like the first go-around, words were exchanged in the media, but for whatever reason the rematch was not booked. Instead, it’s been said that they would both fight on the card, however, against different opponents. Well, now it looks like they have more than just their pride to fight for, they also have their NYE opponent to fight over. Apparently, FEG is interested in booking Cro Cop against K-1 bad boy Badr Hari, but the funny part is Overeem is the one who wants a crack at Hari.

Kimbo Wants To Teach Badr Hari What Sportsmanship Is About (Update)

Kimbo Slice In JapanThis should be worth a good laugh with another long work week staring you in the face.

Kimbo is clear what he thinks Hari’s punishment should be:

“I want to fight him and teach him what sportsmanship is about….I want to give him a spanking.” As he called it, a “Spanking Match”

In case you didn’t know, Badr Hari was disqualified in the K-1 World GP Finals this past weekend for illegally stomping Remy Bonjasky in the face. Illegal strikes or not, poor Kimbo is going to get murdered if he fights Hari. I really can’t believe this is even being discussed.

Quick update: MMA Mania found this video of Kimbo commentating at the K-1 event. Watch it to the end. Yes, I know the dude in the beginning makes a really strong case to immediately turn it off, but waiting till Kimbo comes on is very well worth it.
