With all the backlash the ABC received stemming from their conference in which amendments were made to the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, namely the weight class modifications, it appears they are deciding to take a step back and revisit those rules changes. A seven member committee—including heavyweights Keith Kizer from the NSAC, Armando Garcia from the CSAC, and Nick Lembo from the NJACB—has been formed to review the recent revisions and determine if they should stand.

Nevada, New Jersey & Ohio State Athletic Commissions Opposed To Weight Class Changes
If you haven’t noticed, pretty much everyone in the MMA community is opposed to the new weight class changes, probably even you. Well, the people’s opinions who ultimately determine whether or not these new weight classes will be adopted or not are the state athletic commissions and the promoters. Dana White has already weighed in on the situation, and as expected, he’s completely against it.
So what about the athletic commissions? Where do they stand?

NJACB, Ringside Physician & Kimbo/Thompson Ref Comment On EliteXC/CBS Fight Stoppages
In an interview with FiveOuncesOfPain.com, Nick Lembo, legal counsel and the NJACB’s highest ranking official in attendance at Saturday night’s EliteXC ‘Primetime’ On CBS event, sets the record straight on the controversial fight stoppages that occurred in the event’s three biggest fights. Dr. Sherry Wulkan, the ringside physician, followed up with Five Oz. editor Sam Caplan for further clarification. The referee for the Kimbo Slice/James Thompson bout, Dan Miragliotta, commented on why he stopped the fight despite James Thompson still being on his feet.
NJACB Stopped Gina Carano & Kaitlin Young Fight, Not Doctor
Kaitlin Young gives a little insight into the stoppage that ended the fight between her and Gina Carano at EliteXC ‘Primetime’ on CBS last Saturday night. It was believed that the doctor had stopped the fight, however according to Kaitlin, she was cleared by the doctor to continue:
My left cheek and area surrounding the eye are looking pretty ugly today, but there was no major damage. Though it may have looked like it on tv, I never actually had an open wound.
