DREAM Japan Bantamweight GP Final Results

The DREAM BWGP Final took place late last night at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan.  Gegard Mousasi and Hiroyuki Takaya successfully defended their DREAM titles while Hideo Tokoro defeated Masakazu Imanari to win the Japan Bantamweight Grand Prix.

DREAM.17 Japan GP Final Trailer, Card Includes Gegard Mousasi, Todd Duffee & Tatsuya Kawajiri

DREAM.17 is scheduled to take place at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan on July 16. Several fights for the card have been announced in recent days. Here’s what the line-up looks like so far.

  • DREAM Light Heavyweight Championship: Gegard Mousasi vs. Hiroshi Izumi
  • DREAM Light Featherweight Championship: Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Kazuyuki Miyata
  • Japan Bantamweight GP Final: Masakazu Imanari vs. Hideo Tokoro
  • Japan Bantamweight GP Consolation: Keisuke Fujiwara vs. Kenji Osawa
  • Todd Duffee vs. Nick Gaston
  • Willamy Freire vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri
 

DREAM.17 ‘Fight For Japan’ Bantamweight Grand Prix Match-Ups Revealed

Despite FEG’s well-documented financial issues and the devastating earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan last month, the organization is moving forward with a Japan bantamweight grand prix at DREAM.17 “Fight for Japan” on May 29. DREAM officials announced the official match-ups earlier today.

  • Yoshiro Maeda vs. Hideo Tokoro
  • Darren Uyenoyama vs. Atsushi Yamamoto
  • Kenji Osawa vs. Takafumi Otsuka
  • Keisuke Fujiwara vs. Masakazu Imanari

The second round of the tournament will also take on the DREAM.17 card with the finals taking place in July. The top three are expected to compete in a world bantamweight grand prix later in the year which is expected to include former DREAM bantamweight champ Bibiano Fernandes.

Shinya Aoki, Joachim Hansen and Mitsuhiro Ishida are also expected to compete on the card, but they haven’t been officially announced.

As of now, there is no broadcast deal in place for the event, but HDNet is said to be “optimistic.”
