Apparently, Affliction is trying to work with every major combat sports promotion not named the UFC. According to Gegard Mousasi, Affliction wants the newly crowned DREAM Middleweight Champion to fight Vitor Belfort on their January card. Mousasi also revealed to Fighters Only Magazine that he believes Fedor Emelianenko’s opponent will be Josh Barnett.

Speaking to Fighters Only this week, he revealed that the US organisation wants him to fight the Brazilian, while Red Devil team mate Fedor Emelianenko may face Josh Barnett.

Randy Couture: $6-10 Million Each, 700,000+ Pay-Per-View Buys; Fedor Confirms Aleks’ Medical Issue

Randy Couture & Fedor EmelianenkoOn the heels of a meeting with Fedor Emelianenko earlier this week, Randy Couture appeared today on The Adam Carolla Show. Surprisingly, of all the interviews Randy has done in the past year, no one has been able to get Randy’s thoughts on how many pay-per-view buys the Fedor fight would draw and how much money he should be paid for it. Well, Adam did, and the numbers are big.

If you noticed that Aleksander Emelianenko hasn’t been seen on our Affliction “Day of Reckoning” fight card page, it’s because it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing him fighting in the US anytime soon. While it’s still unconfirmed that Aleks tested positive for hepatitis B, its obviously something way more serious than his claim of just being late. According to the CSAC’s Bill Douglas, he won’t be getting a license in the US anytime soon.

Behind The Scenes At Affliction ‘Banned’ With Aleksander Emelianko; Fedor’s Manager Wants To Work With UFC On Fedor vs Randy Fight

Aleksander Emelianenko

Two great things happen in this video.

  1. Josh Barnett confronts Aleks about an interview in which Aleks claimed Josh had ducked him.
  2. Aleks presents Donald Trump with a poster of his back prominently featuring his tattoo of the grim reaper holding a baby.

Number two is priceless. I would have paid good money to know what went through Trump’s mind at that moment.

Here’s another video of Aleks at Affliction “Banned.”

The Emelianenko brothers certainly made waves in North America on July 19 at Affliction’s first MMA event. Fedor silenced his critics by destroying Tim Sylvia in a mere 36 seconds, while his brother, Aleksander disappointed hardcore fans all over North America when he wasn’t licensed to fight. As the “wow” factor of Fedor’s performance wore off, the attention started to slowly shift from his fight to his wallet. During that same time period, speculation began to rampant that Aleks was denied his license by the CSAC because he tested positive for Hepatitis B.

Out Of The Shadow And Beneath The Tattoos: Who Is Aleksander Emelianenko?

Aleksander Emelianenko:

I’m ready. It doesn’t matter with who or where. On foot or on horseback. With maces or poleaxes. To fight. To first blood or to death. It doesn’t matter, I’m ready to fight.

It only takes one look at Aleksander Emelianenko to know he’s serious. If the giant tattoo of the grim reaper holding a baby on his back didn’t tip you off, maybe the stars tattooed on his knees, which symbolize, “I will never kneel,” will. Everytime I see Aleks, I get the overwhelming feeling that if I were ever to be caught up in the Russian mafia, he is the one they would send to kill me.

In the fight world, Aleks often lives in his brother, Fedor’s, shadow, but they are two very different individuals. Evgeni Kogan of Sherdog.com had the opportunity to spend time with Aleksander and his family and give us an in-depth look at who Aleks really is. It’s very interesting and definitely worth a read. Turns out Kimbo isn’t the only heavyweight mixed martial artist who grew up on the “streets.” Part one is posted now. Part two is expected tomorrow.

Aleksander Emelianenko will be facing Paul Buentello this Saturday, July 19, on the Affliction “Banned” card. The bout will be aired during the free FSN portion of the event.

Emelianenko vs Buentello

Aleksander EmelianenkoAffliction officially announced the rumored match between Aleksander Emelianenko and Paul Buentello for ‘Banned’ today, according to Sherdog.com. Emelianenko is the younger brother of Fedor Emelianenko, who will headline the event with Tim Sylvia.

Although not quite as accomplished or talented as Fedor, Aleks is still a very dangerous heavyweight, who typically resides just outside of most outlet’s top ten heavyweight rankings. Like Buentello, he has no problem standing and trading.
