Antonio Silva, who recently tested positive for Boldenone (horse steroid used by professional athletes in the past), is still maintaining that he is innocent. According to a report on Sherdog.com, Howard Jacobs, the same man who represented Sean Sherk in his steroid case, will represent Silva in the proceedings with the CSAC. Similar to the Phil Baroni steroid case, they plan to use the “we tested clean somewhere else” defense, although considering the long-half life of Boldenone, Silva’s independent test may offer more credence.

EliteXC issues statement on Antonio Silva’s steroid suspension
EliteXC Head of Fight Operations Jeremy Lappen issued a public statement yesterday in regards to Antonio Silva’s positive test for Boldenone. It appears EliteXC will support Silva in his efforts to prove his innocence.
“We respect the California commission and the job they do. We always enjoy working with them and work very well together. The illegal use of steroids is a problem in all major sports, including mixed martial arts. We certainly do not condone the use of steroids.

Affliction’s Edwin Dewees & EliteXC HW Champ Antonio Silva Test Positive For Performance Enhancing Drugs (Update)
The suspense is over. The latest drug test results from the CSAC are in, and two fighters who competed in California in July have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs. Affliction’s Edwin Dewees tested positive for Nandrolone, a common anabolic steroid, and EliteXC Heavyweight Champion tested positive for Boldenone, which was created for veterinary use, although it has been used among athletes in recent years.

EliteXC On CBS ‘Unfinished Business’ Results & Wrap-Up
EliteXC “Unfinished Business” took place earlier this evening at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, California. A portion of the card aired on Showtime. The main card was broadcast live on CBS. This event was the second mixed martial arts event to air on major network television.
Three titles were on the line tonight.
Antonio Silva looked to stake his claim as the EliteXC Heavyweight Champion in a match against former UFC fighter Justin Eilers.
Jake Shields finally got his opportunity to compete for a championship belt as he faced off the always dangerous Nick Thompson.
In a rematch from EliteXC’s network television debut, Robbie Lawler looked to defend his middleweight crown against Scott Smith. The first fight ended in controversy when Lawler inadvertently poked Smith in the eye causing the doctors to stop the fight.
Nick Diaz, Rafael Feijao, Shayna Baszler, Wilson Reis and Cris Cyborg were also in action.
Results after the jump.
EliteXC ‘Unfinished Business’ Preview, Picks & Betting Lines
EliteXC “Unfinished Business” will take place tomorrow, July 26, at 8PM ET/7PM CT on Showtime and 9PM ET/ 8PM CT on CBS. This will be the promotion’s second show on primetime network television and will feature a rematch for the EliteXC Middleweight Championship between champ Robbie Lawler and challenger Scott Smith.

Antonio Silva & Justin Eilers Verbally Agreed To Fight At EliteXC ‘Unfinished Business’
No, it’s not going to be Sergei Kharitonov who will step in the cage on July 26 to face Antonio Silva. Considering who will be, however, makes that a big fat disappointment. Instead of the PRIDE veteran, who has some solid wins under his belt, we get a UFC veteran who’s lost to everyone with a recognizable name—Justin Eilers.
According to Five Oz., Eilers and Silva have verbally agreed to the fight and the deal is close to being finalized.
EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw revealed the news when contacted by FiveOuncesOfPain.com earlier this afternoon.
Five Ounces of Pain later contacted Eilers’ manager, Monte Cox, who indicated that it is their intention to FAX a signed contract to EliteXC officials later today.
Shaw also said that it’s still up in the air on whether or not the fight will be for the title.
“It’s still in discussion with EliteXC officials if we’re going to make it a title fight or not. But we feel if we did, Justin is a credible and worthy opponent, and rival challenge for Junior Silva.”
Currently, EliteXC has not set a total number of fights that will happen for either the Showtime or CBS portions of the broadcast. The Showtime card will weigh heavily on whether the Antonio Silva bout is for a title because of the length of the fight moving from three to five rounds.
Eilers may have won his last 10 of 11 fights, but it certainly wasn’t against anyone that justifies giving him a title shot on a national stage. I understand that Eilers wasn’t EliteXC’s first choice and maybe he’s the best they could do on short notice, and that’s fine if they just want to put him against Silva in a normal fight, but to make it a fight for any kind of title is just short of absurd.

Sergei Kharitonov Verbally Agreed To Face Antonio Silva At ‘Unfinished Business’ (Update: ‘Not Happening’)
Yesterday, it was confirmed that Antonio Silva would be fighting on July 26 at “Unfinished Business” for the EliteXC Heavyweight Championship. Now, Silva may have an opponent, and a formidable one at that—PRIDE veteran Sergei Kharitonov. According to Sherdog.com, the bout has been verbally agreed upon and is pending approval by the CSAC.

Gary Shaw Talks Potential Kimbo Fights With Tyson, Gannon and ‘Big Foot’ Silva
If Kimbo Slice wins his fight against James Thompson on the national stage, a lot of talk is going to heat up about who his next opponent will be. Roy Nelson was the latest name to be thrown in the hat, although you must consider the source—IFL CEO Jay Larkin. It’s an appropriate fight, but barely delivers any upside to EliteXC and may not happen.
Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva To Fight In Co-Main Event At EliteXC’s Second CBS Show
The wheels already appear to be turning in building the card for EliteXC’s second show on CBS. Fightline.com is reporting that EliteXC heavyweight Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva is set to co-headline the event. An opponent was not named. Silva, a former super-heavyweight, is easily the promotion’s best heavyweight fighter, and Gary Shaw has even gone as far as stating that Silva is the fighter that would knock Fedor Emelianenko off his throne.
