Cheick Kongo and Paul Buentello face off in a heavyweight battle on Sunday, March 21, at UFC on Versus 1.
UFC on Versus 1: Cheick Kongo vs. Paul Buentello, Clay Guida vs. Shannon Gugerty

The UFC’s first event on Versus has developed into quite the card for free television. Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones and Junior dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga have already been announced as co-headliners, and today the UFC added a heavyweight match-up between strikers Cheick Kongo and Paul Buentello. There will be a lot of leather thrown in that one.
Also, Sean Sherk was expected to meet Clay Guida on the card, but he suffered an undisclosed injury and has since been replaced by Shannon Gugerty.

UFC 107 ‘Penn vs Sanchez’ Weigh-In Results, Pics & Video
Video of the UFC 107 weigh-ins via Fanhouse.
The UFC 107 weigh-ins took place this afternoon at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.
What a bizarre weigh-in event. A handful of fighters had to get completely naked to make weight. Edgar Garcia missed it by 2lbs. Then Cheick Kongo completely turns his back to Frank Mir during their staredown. He’s obviously still very pissed at Mir. Then Diego Sanchez comes out chanting YES!, the crowd starts chanting along with him, and then he misses weight by a pound. If it keeps up we’re going to be in for a crazy one tomorrow night.
Update: Diego weighed in at 154.5 on his second try sans shorts.
Update 2: Gouveia-Belcher is a 195lbs catchweight bout per Gouveia’s request earlier today.
Update 3: Edgar Garcia shed the 2 lbs. and hit 171 on his second attempt.
The weigh-in results:
- B.J. Penn (155) vs. Diego Sanchez (154.5)
- Frank Mir (264.5) vs. Cheick Kongo (239)
- Jon Fitch (171) vs. Mike Pierce (171)
- Kenny Florian (156) vs. Clay Guida (156)
- Paul Buentello (255) vs. Stefan Struve (247)
- Wilson Gouveia (193) vs. Alan Belcher (195)
- Matt Wiman (156) vs. Shane Nelson (156)
- Johny Hendricks (171) vs. Ricardo Funch (171)
- Rousimar Palhares (186) vs. Lucio Linhares (185)
- Edgar Garcia (171) vs. DaMarques Johnson (171)
