DREAM.9 Weigh-In Results, Pictures
The DREAM.9 weigh-ins took place earlier today in Japan.
All fighters made weight. Minowaman and Sokoudjou are both giving up 100+lbs against their opponents. Canseco’s giving up about 80lbs, and Mousasi’s giving up almost 70lbs to Hunt.
And by the way, Canseco says he’s scared.
“I’m not gonna lie to you; I’m scared,” Canseco said. “This guy is huge. I’m a 44-year-old rookie and have had a lot of challenges in my baseball career. Hopefully, I can do well.”

Fields Dynamite!! 2008 took place earlier today at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Japanese MMA legends Kazushi Sakuraba and Kiyoshi Tamura finally squared off in the night’s main event.
In what should have the been the DREAM LW GP Final match-up, Eddie Alvarez and Shinya Aoki met for the WAMMA Lightweight Championship.
Melvin Manhoef stepped in on a day’s notice for Jerome LeBanner to fight the much bigger K-1 vet Mark Hunt in a DREAM rules match.
Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, in the night’s David and Goliath bout, fought the Korean giant, Hong Man Choi.
Alistair Overeem took a tough fight under K-1 rules against K-1 Heavyweight king and resident bad boy Badr Hari.
Japanese freak show staple Bob Sapp participated in the mother of all freak shows when he fought an amateur wrestling champion dressed up as a Japanese anime character.
Gegard Mousasi, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Semmy Schilt, Mighty Mo and Minnowaman were also in action.
The fight between Joachim Hansen and JZ Calvacante was canceled due an apparent head injury to Hansen. MMA Weekly has a report.

DREAM.5 Lightweight GP Finals Results & Wrap-Up

DREAM.5 took place early Monday morning at Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan. The semi-finals and final round of the lightweight grand prix was featured in the Japanese organization’s fifth outing. Shinya Aoki, Caol Uno, Eddie Alvarez and Tatsuya Kawajiri battled it out to determine who would be the 2008 Lightweight Grand Prix Champion.
Mark Hunt also made his return to mixed martial arts action after a two year layoff against the always dangerous Alistair Overeem.

Mark Hunt Confirmed For DREAM.5

Earlier today, speculation was running rampant that Mark Hunt was competing at DREAM.5 when the above banner surfaced on the the internet with Hunt’s picture appearing on the right side. That speculation can now be laid to rest as Mark Hunt has indeed been confirmed by DREAM as a participant for their fifth show.
