Tom Atencio: Tito’s Asking Price Is ‘Just Not Feasible’; Rothwell Confirms Pay Cut Rumors

Contrary to what Tito Ortiz stated in a recent SI.com article, Affliction has not and likely will not sign Tito to the “ground-breaking” deal he spoke of. During a press luncheon yesterday, Affliction confirmed that they were actively negotiating with Tito Ortiz, but they seem to far apart on terms at the moment.

According to Affliction VP Tom Atencio, Tito’s current asking price is just too high.

Inside MMA Preview: Affliction VP, Tom Atencio, Confirms Affliction ‘Banned’ Is A Go (Update)

Affliction VP, Tom Atencio, appears in tonight’s edition of Inside MMA on HDNet. To clear up any doubts, Atencio, confirmed that Affliction ‘Banned’ is a done deal for July 19 at The Honda Center, also known as The Pond, in Anaheim, California. The event will be on PPV, with any further coverage still in negotiations. In addition to the Fedor Emelianenko/Tim Sylvia and Josh Barnett/Pedro Rizzo fights, Atencio confirmed the participation of Ben Rothwell, Mike Whitehead and Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral, and the fight between Matt Lindland and Fabio Negao. There was no mention of Andre Arlovski, who has been rumored to participate as well. They are looking to have 10 fights total on the card.

Josh Barnett Vs. Pedro Rizzo Confirmed For Affliction: Banned

Josh BarnettJosh Barnett has confirmed a rumored match against Pedro Rizzo for the upcoming Affliction event, ‘Banned,’ through MMAWeekly Radio. This will not be these fighters’ first encounter. In 2001, Barnett and Rizzo faced off at UFC 30, a match in which Rizzo got the better of Barnett by knocking him out in the second round.
