There may be more on the line come Dec. 27 for Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson than merely answering the question of whether or not Wandy just has Rampage Jackson’s number. It also looks like a title shot could go to the winner, or at least Wandy thinks so if he wins.
Speaking to Fighters Only at the weekend, Silva said that he understands he will get a crack at the belt if he gets past the former champion.

It’s official…finally! Wanderlei Silva and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson will meet for a third time on Dec. 27 at UFC 92. Also confirmed for the card are Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir for the UFC Interim Heavyweight Championship.
Dana White confirmed the news with Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports.
If given the choice, who would you rather fight? Wanderlei Silva or Forrest Griffin? Personally, I’d take Forrest. I’d rather get my leg broken than my head knocked off. Lucky for you and me though that’s a choice we’ll never have to make.
That same question was posed by Fighters Only Magazine to Rampage Jackson, one of the three men who have actually fought both, and he chose Wanderlei. Here’s why.

Spike TV will be airing a season one marathon and reunion special of “The Ultimate Fighter” this Saturday, Sept. 13, beginning at 9AM ET. Clips from the reunion special will be mixed in throughout the day. The finale, which includes the fight between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar that changed everything, will round out the television event.
If Quinton Jackson had retained his title at UFC 86, you probably wouldn’t have heard Chuck Liddell’s name mentioned in the UFC light heavyweight title picture for quite some time. After all, Jackson did beat Liddell twice…decisively. How could you justify it when Lyoto Machida is still undefeated and Wanderlei Silva is back on track? Of course, that became a moot point when the judges awarded one of the closest fights in recent memory to Forrest Griffin instead.

With Quinton Jackson having a clearer picture of his legal situation, he’s now looking towards getting back in the Octagon as soon as possible. It’s still unknown who his next opponent will be, although Wanderlei Silva and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua seem to be at the top of the list of potential opponents.
