Strikeforce “Evolution” took place earlier this evening at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Fanhouse and Showtime Sports deliver Strikeforce “Evolution” pre-fight interviews with Cung Le, Scott Smith, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thomson, Matt Lindland, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, King Mo and Mike Whitehead.

Apparently, in multiple interviews Mike Whitehead has done for his upcoming fight against King Mo, reporters have insinuated that Whitehead is the underdog. And according the betting lines, he’s a major underdog. Well, that doesn’t sit well with Whitehead. He’s pissed and plans on earning back the respect he says he deserves by giving King Mo a beatdown Saturday night.

King Mo even knows how to make a fight announcement entertaining. Here he is on Twitter claiming he’s going to bust a pimple at Strikeforce “Evolution” on Dec. 19. I think it’s safe to assume he’s talking about Mike Whitehead. No other reports on this, so we don’t know if it’s signed yet, but it seems like a pretty logical match-up for Mo’s Strikeforce debut.

Update: MMA Junkie has confirmed the fight “is in the works” but it’s not yet signed. Fanhouse’s Ariel Helwani interviewed Whitehead and he said if the fight happens it will be at heavyweight.

Good god, Mike Whitehead says he weighed 285 lbs. eight weeks his Strikeforce fight in June against Kevin Randleman. That’s roughly the same weight Brock Lesnar walks around at although I’m sure Whitehead wasn’t quite as solid as Brock. He didn’t have to cut down to the 265 lbs. limit like Brock though, he had to cut to 205. For those keeping score that’s eighty pounds in eight weeks! As Steve Cofield put it, that’s just insanity.

Mike Whitehead doesn’t pull any punches in this interview, especially when goes off about Rashad Evans.
