Dana Talks Kimbo, Hendo, Rampage, Strikeforce & More

Dana White took a moment at the TUF 11 tryouts to talk to CagePotato about UFC 104, Junie Browning and Kimbo Slice. He’s asked if Kimbo is fighting Houston Alexander at UFC 107, and while he definitely didn’t deny it, he wouldn’t confirm it either, just said you have to wait and see what happens on the show.

After the jump, DW chats it up with Sportsnet.ca’s MMA Connected about a whole slew of topics.

Junie Browning Seems Back To Normal

I don’t know if Junie Browning’s joking or being serious, but hearing him talk about drinking, underage girls and all the money he’ll be making outside the UFC fighting really isn’t funny after everything that went down a couple weeks ago. But as he says, as long as people pay attention to him, he doesn’t care what they think about him.

UFC Fight Night 18 & TUF 9 Tonight

UFC Fight Night 18 and the season nine premiere of The Ultimate Fighter are set to kick off in a matter of hours, and Junie Browning seems to garnering all the attention. He takes on Cole Miller tonight and a small war of words has been brewing between the two of them.

The more intriguing storyline, at least to me, is Carlos Condit’s UFC debut against Martin Kampmann. How will he do? We’ll find out soon, but in the meantime, here’s a few thoughts from them on the fight.

“He’s got a good submission game from his back, he’s got good Thai Boxing, he’s lanky, has dangerous knees, but he’s got some weaknesses too. I think his wrestling has been weak in the last couple of fights, and he’s beatable – everybody’s beatable. It’s a tough fight for him, but it’s a tough fight for me too. We’re both tough and I think it’s gonna come down to who makes a mistake. Anything can happen, but I think it’s a great matchup and the fans are in for a treat.”

Martin Kampann

“With Kampmann I see a very well-rounded fighter. He’s complete — him and I have similar skill sets. He’s got great kickboxing and also a very good ground game. He’s tough too, McFedries had him in trouble and he came back and won that fight, so I’m expecting a war. [But] this is only his second time cutting down to 170. I’ve been fighting at 170 for the majority of my career. I know that I can perform at my peak ability after having cut my weight. I know I have the endurance to push hard for three rounds. I’m hoping to go out there and push the pace and hopefully break him.”

Carlos Condit

And here’s the inevitable quote from Dana White on how “fucking awesome” TUF 9 is.

“You know how ever season the fighters fall into this team thing – my team, we hate your team thing? They fall into that (expletive). We’re nine seasons and they get in there and it’s this crazy ‘Lord of the Flies’ thing,” explained White. “Never has it been worse than when it’s country versus country. When I say that, not only was it bad with the fighters, the coaches were even worse.”

‘Lord of the Flies’…awesome. You all let me know how it was in June.
