Josh Koscheck stepped up on two weeks notice to face Thiago Alves in a potential number one welterweight contender match.

Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin battled it out to stay relevant in the UFC’s lightweight title picture.

Fabricio Werdum, Gray Maynard, Rich Clementi, Hermes Franca and Marcus Aurelio were also in action.

UFC 86: Jackson vs Griffin took place this evening at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The UFC Light Heavyweight Championship was on the line for the first time since September 2007. Forrest Griffin tried to become the first “Ultimate Fighter” to be crowned champion in the UFC by taking on champ, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

Ricardo Almeida and Patrick Cote battled it out in a clash of styles for a possible shot at UFC middleweight gold.

Josh Koscheck tried to stay in the title hunt by taking out the always tough Chris Lytle.

Tyson Griffin went out to prove that his name should be talked about in the UFC lightweight title picture with a match against submission artist Marcus Aurelio.

Joe Stevenson looked to get back on track after a devastating loss to BJ Penn at UFC 80 for the then vacant UFC Lightweight Championship.
